Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, Jan 7 (NationPress) - The government of Odisha has made significant strides in enhancing the state's healthcare framework, as detailed in an official announcement released on Wednesday.
These pivotal decisions were made by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during an extensive review meeting focused on various initiatives coordinated by the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, which took place in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
In line with the Chief Minister's directives, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is set to launch as a pilot program in Kendujhar district. Following an evaluation of its effectiveness, this digital initiative will be rolled out statewide. The ABDM will facilitate key healthcare services, including appointment scheduling, referrals, follow-ups, and more, through digital platforms.
This critical ABDM initiative aspires to create a national digital health ecosystem, enabling citizens to utilize unique Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs for secure access and sharing of health records, thereby linking patients, healthcare providers, laboratories, and pharmacies for uninterrupted care.
The state government anticipates that this program will significantly decrease patient wait times and promote optimal use of healthcare resources.
In another noteworthy decision, CM Majhi announced the introduction of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses at all District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) to sharpen the skills of healthcare professionals. This initiative is expected to allow doctors to gain practical experience and pursue specializations while they serve in the districts.
To elevate the practice of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) medicine across the state, the Chief Minister has mandated that AYUSH practitioners prescribe only Ayurvedic medications and abstain from allopathic prescriptions. Furthermore, he directed that Ayurvedic and Homeopathic remedies be made accessible at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to prioritize and enhance AYUSH healthcare services in Odisha.
