Bhubaneswar, Nov 1 (NationPress) As India intensifies its focus on semiconductor production, SiCSem, a branch of Archean Chemical Industries Ltd, celebrated the groundbreaking of its compound semiconductor fabrication facility at Info Valley on Saturday. The company praised the vision and dedication of both the Central and Odisha governments in fostering a semiconductor revolution.
Rajeev Kumar, the Head of Strategy at Archean Chemical Industries Ltd, remarked that semiconductor manufacturing is among the most intricate and technologically demanding sectors globally.
"Launching such a facility necessitates a long-term vision, extensive collaboration, and robust policy backing. What we see today in Odisha is the result of that commitment and faith," he stated.
Kumar commended Odisha's proactive industrial ecosystem and the unwavering support from the government.
"Two years ago, when we embarked on this journey, our goal was to significantly contribute to India’s semiconductor aspirations. Today’s achievement at Info Valley symbolizes the success of that collaboration," he expressed.
He further highlighted that the initiative would establish a strong semiconductor value chain in eastern India, draw high-end investments, and create substantial employment and skill development opportunities for the local youth.
"With this Fab and ATMP facility, Odisha is set to take a pivotal role in India’s semiconductor narrative," he affirmed.
According to Ranjit Pendurthi, Managing Director of Archean Chemical Industries Ltd, this event signifies a crucial milestone – "not only for our business but also for India’s semiconductor landscape."
"We take pride in being part of this transformative journey envisioned under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Odisha, with its progressive policies and skilled workforce, provides an ideal setting for constructing a world-class facility," he noted.
Pendurthi underscored that the project would generate advanced technology employment, cultivate local talent, and position Odisha as a vital contributor in India’s electronics and semiconductor evolution.
Sanctioned by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) with a capital investment of Rs 2,067 crore, the compound semiconductor fabrication facility will generate 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. The facility will boast an annual capacity of 60,000 wafers and a packaging capacity of 96 million units.
