Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, April 19 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Sunday that Odisha has positioned itself as a prime location for the global semiconductor sector, attributed to its abundant resources, skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and unwavering commitment.
CM Majhi made these remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of India's inaugural Advanced 3D Glass substrate packaging facility by 3D Glass Solutions at Infovally in Bhubaneswar.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Odisha Electronics and IT Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling.
This ambitious project, with an investment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore, aims to produce 70,000 glass panels annually, alongside 50 million assembled units and 13,200 advanced 3DHI modules.
It is anticipated to create around 2,500 jobs within the state.
During his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that this event marks not only a pivotal day for Odisha but also a historic moment in India's quest for technological supremacy. He highlighted that this facility would be India's first of its kind in advanced 3D glass substrate packaging, with components manufactured set to play a vital role in burgeoning sectors like artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and defence electronics.
“Odisha is the optimal destination for the global semiconductor industry. We possess the resources, talent, infrastructure, and resolve. If you're eager to develop the technologies of tomorrow—Odisha is the place for you,” Majhi declared.
He elaborated on five essential factors that make Odisha an attractive investment hub: abundant natural resources, top-notch infrastructure, a skilled youth workforce, excellent connectivity, and responsive governance.
Encouraging the youth, Majhi remarked, “This is a golden opportunity for the students and engineers of Odisha. They should step forward in this emerging field by honing the necessary skills.”
Additionally, he revealed that investments surpassing Rs 10,000 crore have already been made in Odisha's semiconductor sector, with companies such as RIR Power Electronics and SiCSem already operational.
He asserted that Odisha is poised to play a crucial role in realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, serving as a launchpad for eastern India.
On this occasion, Union Minister Vaishnaw expressed confidence that efforts would persist to industrialize Odisha and transform it into an IT hub in the forthcoming years.
“The foundation laid today will usher in widespread prosperity for the state. The glass substrate packaging unit from 3D Glass Solutions will produce unique products in the country, and this technology is expected to shape the future of the semiconductor sector,” he stated.
