Dehradun, May 20 (NationPress) The Uttarakhand Madarsa Board has made a significant decision to incorporate 'Operation Sindoor' into the educational syllabus statewide, allowing students to gain insights into this recent military operation.
The announcement was made by Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, the President of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Council. He emphasized that this initiative aims to foster a sense of patriotism among students. In Uttarakhand, there are 451 madrasas, serving nearly 50,000 students.
This decision followed Qasmi's meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Tuesday, where he was accompanied by a group of educationists, intellectuals, and Sufi scholars.
During this meeting, he congratulated the Defence Minister on the successful execution of Operation Sindoor under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Singh, commending the Indian armed forces for delivering a significant setback to terrorist bases in Pakistan.
He further acknowledged the valor of the Indian Army and highlighted Uttarakhand's rich history of heroism, referring to it as the "land of heroes".
Qasmi mentioned that the courage displayed by the armed forces has resonated with citizens nationwide, and it is essential for madrasa students to understand this national pride.
"We have adopted the NCERT curriculum in madrasas throughout the country, bridging the gap between mainstream education and our institutions. This reform has elevated the quality of education in these settings... We aspire to share the remarkable story of 'Operation Sindoor' with our students, so future generations can comprehend how our soldiers executed it with strength, bravery, and courage, ensuring no civilian casualties," he told IANS.
He added that a gathering of the curriculum committee would be held soon to finalize the inclusion of a chapter on Operation Sindoor in the syllabus.
Uttarakhand Waqf Board President Shadab Shams praised this initiative, stating to IANS, "This is Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, also known as Sainya Dham (land of soldiers). If children studying in progressive madrasas here do not learn about Operation Sindoor, then where else will they?"
"Uttarakhand is a state where nearly every household has contributed a soldier to the armed forces. The governor is a retired Lieutenant General, the chief minister is a soldier's son, and the people here hold deep patriotic sentiments. If children from such a state are not educated about Operation Sindoor, then who will be?"
Shams stressed the importance of teaching students about the military's heroic endeavors and the sacrifices made by soldiers, which is crucial for nurturing love and faith for the nation.
"I urge Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who hails from a military family, to swiftly implement these elements into the NCERT syllabus, including Operation Sindoor, so that children in modern madrasas can also read about these narratives, understand their valor, and connect with it," he stated.
Shams concluded by expressing, "I believe that youth and children should have the opportunity to learn about these stories, understand their valor, and feel a connection to it."
