Mumbai, April 25 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday that Pakistani citizens must vacate Maharashtra within 48 hours or they will encounter legal repercussions.
“The Indian government has resolved to revoke the visas of all Pakistani nationals. We possess a list of Pakistani citizens residing in Maharashtra. All police stations have been directed accordingly. These individuals are required to vacate the state within 48 hours. Their movements are under surveillance, and we will initiate deportation processes soon. Failure to comply will result in action against them,” he informed the press.
“I have engaged in comprehensive discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Central government's decision to annul the visas of Pakistani citizens. Consequently, the state government has instructed these individuals to exit Maharashtra in 48 hours, and those who overstay will face consequences,” he cautioned.
He emphasized that “there is no empathy towards Pakistani players and actors.”
The announcement from Fadnavis followed the Central government's decision to revoke all visas for Pakistani nationals and to recommend that Indian citizens in Pakistan return home promptly, especially after the recent escalation of tensions due to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the death of 26 tourists.
The Home Minister directly contacted Chief Ministers across all states, instructing them to ensure no Pakistani citizens remain in India past the deadline.
Previously, the Ministry of External Affairs stated: "In continuation of the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Security following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has decided to halt visa services for Pakistani nationals effective immediately. All currently valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals are revoked as of April 27, 2025.
"Medical visas for Pakistani nationals will remain valid only until April 29, 2025. All Pakistani nationals currently in India must depart before their visas expire, as now amended. Indian citizens are strongly urged to refrain from traveling to Pakistan. Those presently in Pakistan are advised to return to India as soon as possible.”
In the meantime, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) posted on X stating: "In response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, special flights are being arranged by the state government under the directives of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to safely repatriate tourists from Maharashtra. The third special flight from IndiGo, carrying 232 tourists, is set to depart from Srinagar this afternoon and arrive in Mumbai by evening. Two previous special flights bringing back 184 tourists successfully landed in Mumbai yesterday. Approximately 500 tourists have returned so far.”
The CMO has included the list of 232 tourists arriving on Friday.
