New Delhi, May 11 (NationPress) The Centre, during a special briefing on 'Operation Sindoor' on Saturday, condemned Pakistan's audacious efforts to escalate tensions by persistently targeting both military and civilian establishments in India. The briefing also criticized the state-sponsored propaganda machine for disseminating falsehoods. It reassured the citizens that all of Pakistan's malicious attempts have been effectively countered by the vigilant Indian armed forces.
In the press briefing led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated that Pakistan has been incessantly assaulting India's western frontiers using drones, long-range weaponry, loitering munitions, and fighter jets aimed at Indian military installations.
Highlighting a specific instance of escalation, she revealed that a high-speed missile was launched by Pakistan at 1:40 am last night, targeting an airbase in Punjab, in blatant violation of international protocols.
The 'Operation Sindoor' briefing team collectively attributed the escalation to Pakistan, asserting that India has acted with restraint and precision to dismantle terror networks, while Pakistan has deliberately aimed at civilian and military infrastructure on the Indian side.
They also disclosed that certain health facilities and educational institutions were among the targets during last night's escalation by Pakistani forces.
Vikram Misri further denounced Pakistan’s fabrications and the propaganda machinery, indicating that the state apparatus was engaged in promoting a deceptive narrative and urged everyone to disregard it.
As part of its malicious misinformation campaign, Pakistan alleged the destruction of an Indian S-400 system and airfields in Sirsa and Surat.
“These are outright lies and part of its propaganda war. India categorically rejects these false assertions made by Pakistan,” they stated.
Colonel Qureshi also mentioned that India's air defense systems intercepted multiple projectiles launched by Pakistan and informed that Pakistan attempted to infiltrate through the air at over 26 locations, aiming at military bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda, with most being neutralized.
Pakistan launched several armed drones from its territory over Khasa Cantt in Amritsar; however, the UAVs were successfully intercepted by the Indian Army's air defense systems.
“Pakistan's overt escalation involving drone strikes and various munitions continues along our Western borders. In one such incident today at around 5 a.m., multiple enemy armed drones were detected flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The hostile drones were swiftly engaged and destroyed by our air defense units,” the Indian Army affirmed.
Condemning the provocations, the Army stated, “Pakistan's blatant attempts to infringe upon India's sovereignty and jeopardize civilian lives are intolerable. The Indian Army will thwart any enemy designs.”
In a strong response to Pakistan's treacherous actions, the Border Security Force (BSF) has completely obliterated a Pakistani post and a terrorist launch pad in Looni, District Sialkot, opposite Akhnoor area, from where tube drones were being launched to attack India.
“On 9 May 2025, around 2100 hrs, Pakistan commenced unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector. The BSF retaliated in a proportionate manner, inflicting significant damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary.
“The terrorist launch pad at Looni, District Sialkot, across from Akhnoor area, was entirely dismantled by the BSF. Our determination to safeguard India's sovereignty remains unwavering,” the BSF stated in an announcement.
