New Delhi, May 10 (NationPress) India declared on Saturday that it has reacted in a "measured manner" to the persistent provocations and tensions from Pakistan.
During a press conference regarding 'Operation Sindoor', Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, alongside Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Indian Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, provided insights into the current circumstances at the India-Pakistan border.
"Pakistani actions have been escalating with provocations over the last few days. In response, India has defended itself and reacted in a measured manner to these provocations and escalations from the Pakistani side. Earlier today, we witnessed a recurrence of these escalatory and provocative actions," Misri stated.
Pakistan has launched several armed drones from its territory over Khasa Cantt in Amritsar; however, these UAVs were effectively intercepted by the Indian Army's air defense systems.
"Pakistan's blatant escalation with drone strikes and other munitions continues along our Western borders. In one such incident, this morning around 5 a.m., multiple enemy armed drones were observed flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. Our air defense units promptly engaged and destroyed these hostile drones," the Indian Army reported.
Condemning the provocations, the Army declared, "Pakistan's blatant attempt to violate India's sovereignty and endanger civilian lives is intolerable. The Indian Army will thwart enemy designs."
In yet another strong action against Pakistan's malicious activities, the Border Security Force (BSF) has completely dismantled a Pakistani post and a terrorist launch pad in Looni, District Sialkot, which was used to launch tube drones targeting India.
"On May 9, 2025, starting around 2100 hrs, Pakistan initiated unprovoked gunfire on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector. The BSF responded proportionately, inflicting substantial damage to the Pakistan Rangers' posts and assets along the International Boundary. Our resolve to safeguard India's sovereignty remains unshaken," the BSF stated.
In a related incident late Friday night, three civilians, including a woman, were injured due to a Pakistani drone attack on the outskirts of Ferozepur town in Punjab.
Meanwhile, panic spread across parts of Jammu and Kashmir as residents in Srinagar and the Akhnoor area of Jammu division reported hearing massive explosions early on Saturday morning. Many morning walkers rushed back home in fear.
Simultaneously, overnight mortar shelling by the Pakistan Army in Poonch and Rajouri districts caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
According to a Defence Ministry release, "Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan, including suspected armed drones."
The mentioned locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
