Patna Police arrested four accused in two separate operations in the state capital on 21 August, foiling an alleged plot to rob prominent doctors and businessmen while also cracking a series of house burglaries. The arrests mark a significant outcome of the force's ongoing crackdown on criminal networks in the city.
Key Developments
In the first operation, a joint team of the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) and Bypass police acted on a tip-off that a group of armed individuals had gathered near Doctors Colony under the Bypass police station area in Patna East. The raid led to the arrest of Rohit Kumar, Rustam alias Raftaar, and Rohit Kumar alias Mahi.
Police recovered two country-made pistols, one country-made katta, 24 live cartridges, two magazines, Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), two motorcycles, and mobile phones from the accused. During interrogation, the three allegedly disclosed plans to rob prominent doctors and businessmen in the city.
What the Police Said
East Superintendent of Police (SP) Shailja confirmed the details of both operations, stating that Patna Police were working round-the-clock to nab criminals and anti-social elements. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Liquor Prohibition Act at the Bypass police station, and the matter remains under investigation.
Serial Burglar Nabbed in Separate Raid
In a second, independent operation, Agamkuan police arrested Deepak Sahani, who is allegedly linked to a series of house burglaries across the city. Officers recovered 165 grams of gold, approximately 3.4 kg of silver jewellery, ₹80,000 in cash, burglary tools, and a motorcycle from his possession.
Sahani allegedly confessed during interrogation to carrying out thefts worth more than ₹15 lakh. An FIR has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
What Happens Next
Police are conducting further raids to identify and apprehend Sahani's alleged accomplices and to trace individuals involved in disposing of the stolen property.
