PM Modi Charms People by Agreeing to Meet Retired IFS Officer in Kuwait

New Delhi, Dec 21 (NationPress) Renowned for his connection with the Indian diaspora, Prime Minister Narendra Modi captured attention on social media by agreeing to meet a retired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer based in Kuwait, following a request from his granddaughter.
Shreya Juneja had reached out to PM Modi to arrange a meeting with her 101-year-old grandfather, Mangal Sain Handa, who is a former IFS officer, during his visit to Kuwait.
Despite her uncertainty regarding a positive reply, Juneja was elated when PM Modi, who is known for his personal touch in engaging with the Indian diaspora during overseas visits, responded affirmatively.
“It’s an honour to receive a response from you, sir! You've won our hearts once again. Nanaji @MangalSainHanda is overjoyed, and his smile means the world to us. We're deeply grateful for this kind gesture,” Juneja expressed on X.
Earlier, in response to her request, PM Modi stated on X, “Absolutely! I look forward to meeting @MangalSainHanda Ji in Kuwait today.”
Ex-IFS officer Handa has served in various countries including Kuwait, the UK, Iraq, China, Argentina, and Cambodia before retiring nearly four decades ago.
The Prime Minister’s gesture not only left Juneja thrilled but also resonated with numerous social media users.
One user on X remarked, “That’s the level of connection PM has with people who may never have thought of meeting Bharat’s PM by simply writing to him on social media.”
Many other users on X expressed envy towards Shreya’s success in reaching out to the PM and requested her to share PM Modi's contact details.
PM Modi’s commitment to engaging with the Indian diaspora coincides with his significant visit to Kuwait, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and addressing concerns of Indian expatriates, especially following the tragic Mangaf building fire incident.
On June 12, at least 46 Indian workers lost their lives when a residential building in Mangaf, located in Kuwait's Ahmadi Governorate, was engulfed in flames.
At the time of the disaster, there were 196 migrant workers in the building, leading to 50 fatalities and numerous injuries.
PM Modi’s historic two-day visit to Kuwait, commencing Saturday, marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years.
This trip, initiated at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, highlights the profound and expanding relationship between the two nations.
“The Indian community is the largest expatriate community in Kuwait. The visit will present an opportunity to further strengthen the multifaceted ties between India and Kuwait,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) prior to PM Modi's landmark visit.
