Indian Community Welcomes 101-Year-Old Ex-IFS Officer and PM Modi in Kuwait

Kuwait City, Dec 21 (NationPress) The Indian community gave a heartfelt reception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrived at his hotel in Kuwait City on Saturday afternoon. This visit marks the beginning of his historic two-day trip, the first by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 43 years.
Among those who warmly greeted Prime Minister Modi was Mangal Sain Handa, a 101-year-old former officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Handa, who now lives in Kuwait, had previously served in various countries including Kuwait, United Kingdom, Iraq, China, Argentina, and Cambodia before retiring roughly four decades ago.
During their meeting, PM Modi exchanged pleasantries with Handa and also took photographs with his family.
The day before, Handa's granddaughter, Shreya Juneja, had shared a message on social media, asking PM Modi to meet her grandfather during his visit to Kuwait.
Just before boarding Air India One on Saturday, PM Modi, who enjoys immense popularity both domestically and internationally, responded to Juneja's post, stating, "Absolutely! I look forward to meeting Mangal Sain Handa Ji in Kuwait today."
The Prime Minister also received Arabic translations of the Ramayana and Mahabharata from Abdullah Baron, published by Abdullateef Alnesef.
The Indian community, the largest group of expatriates in Kuwait, plays a crucial role in enhancing bilateral relations.
In his statement before leaving on Saturday, PM Modi highlighted that his visit would serve as a chance to establish a roadmap for a progressive partnership that benefits both nations and the region.
"I eagerly look forward to meeting the Indian diaspora in Kuwait who have immensely contributed to the strengthening of bonds of friendship between the two nations," stated Prime Minister Modi.
Additionally, the Prime Minister is set to engage with the Indian community at a local event and visit a labor camp during his two-day stay in the West Asian nation.
