New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vehemently condemned the recent terror attack in the stunning hill station of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that those accountable for this atrocious act will face justice.
The Prime Minister, currently on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, expressed his profound sorrow regarding the incident and promised that swift and decisive actions would be taken.
“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. I hope for a swift recovery for the injured. All necessary support is being extended to those affected,” PM Modi shared on X.
In a firm warning to the attackers, he stated, “Those responsible for this atrocious act will be brought to justice... they will not be spared! Their malevolent agenda will never prevail. Our determination to combat terrorism remains steadfast and will only strengthen.”
The terror incident, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, has resulted in at least 12 injuries, affecting both tourists and local residents. This attack coincides with an exceptional tourist season in the Kashmir Valley, where hotels in Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg report full occupancy.
Immediately following the attack, PM Modi spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, instructing him to take all necessary precautions. Subsequently, Shah announced his intention to visit Srinagar to evaluate the situation and lead a high-level security review meeting.
“Deeply saddened by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. Those involved in this despicable act will face severe consequences, and we will act decisively against the perpetrators,” the Home Minister posted on X.
“I have briefed PM Shri @narendramodi Ji about the situation and held a virtual meeting with key officials. I will be traveling to Srinagar shortly to oversee the security review,” he stated.
This marks the first significant terror attack aimed at tourists in the Kashmir Valley in 2025, causing alarm throughout the region, particularly as tourism—a vital economic resource for the Valley—is currently thriving.
Security measures have been intensified across the Anantnag district and nearby tourist areas, with additional forces deployed and operations underway to identify any remaining threats.
