New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return to India earlier than expected from his trip to Saudi Arabia following a terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir, as confirmed by sources on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that the Prime Minister also missed the formal dinner hosted by Saudi Arabia and opted to shorten his stay.
It is said that PM Modi will depart for India tonight, having initially planned to return on Wednesday night.
In a strong response to the attack, PM Modi condemned the violence in the beautiful hill station of Pahalgam, promising that those accountable for this “atrocious act” will face justice.
“I firmly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. I wish a swift recovery for the injured. All possible support is being extended to those affected,” PM Modi stated on X.
He issued a warning to the attackers, emphasizing, “Those responsible for this vile act will be brought to justice... they will face consequences! Their malicious agenda will fail. Our commitment to combating terrorism is unwavering and will only become stronger.”
Following the incident, PM Modi spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, instructing him to ensure all necessary actions are taken. Subsequently, Shah declared his intention to visit Srinagar to evaluate the situation personally and lead a high-level security review meeting.
“I am deeply pained by the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My prayers are with the families of the deceased. Those involved in this heinous act will not evade justice, and we will respond with the utmost severity,” the Home Minister shared on X.
Reports indicate that multiple tourists were killed and several others, including locals and tourists, were injured due to the attack in Pahalgam located in Anantnag district of Kashmir on Tuesday, prompting security forces to initiate a large-scale operation to locate the culprits.
According to sources, two to three terrorists dressed in army fatigues opened fire on tourists engaged in horse riding at the Baisran area around 2:30 p.m. Baisran is a serene meadow situated 3 to 4 km from the Pahalgam market, accessible to tourists only by horse as there is no road for vehicles.
