New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ initiative has garnered enthusiastic support from various sectors, including politicians, athletes, and artists.
During the inauguration of the 38th National Games in Dehradun on January 28, he addressed the alarming rise in obesity rates across the nation, which poses a significant health risk.
In his remarks on the Fit India Movement, PM Modi emphasized the crucial role of exercise and a balanced diet, urging a reduction in unhealthy fats and oils. He recommended decreasing daily oil intake by 10 percent.
When asked about Prime Minister Modi’s tweet regarding fitness and the reduction of oil consumption, singer Nikhita Gandhi responded to IANS, “That’s a fantastic initiative; our dietary habits must adapt to our lifestyles, particularly as many of us lead sedentary lives. In Indian culture, we often overindulge in carbohydrates like rice and roti while consuming fewer vegetables. This is a deeply rooted habit, but we must prioritize our nutrition.”
Actor Naga Chaitanya also spoke to IANS about PM Modi’s Fit India campaign, stating, “It’s essential for us to be aware of this, as fitness encompasses not just physical health but also mental wellness. The type of food we consume significantly impacts our gut health, which is often referred to as the second brain. A healthy gut leads to a healthy brain.”
On Thursday, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar commended Prime Minister Modi for ‘motivating and inspiring’ citizens to embrace a healthier lifestyle and minimize ‘excess weight’, while also sharing a video of his speech.
Akshay expressed his admiration for how the Prime Minister articulated the effects of unhealthy habits on our lives, stating, “Health is the greatest form of wealth,” and urged everyone to heed PM Modi’s recommendations for consistent exercise and nutritious eating for a healthier life.
