Jammu, June 6 (NationPress) On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Chenab Railway Bridge. Following the inauguration, he explored a photo exhibition that showcased the technical challenges encountered during the bridge's construction.
During his visit, PM Modi engaged with the engineers and skilled workers who persevered through difficult weather and terrain conditions to finalize the world’s tallest bridge at an impressive height of 359 meters, which is 35 meters taller than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the dedicated team for overcoming numerous obstacles to complete this engineering marvel within a record timeframe.
Accompanied by MoS (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, PM Modi attended the photo exhibition that depicted the various challenges faced during the bridge's construction.
He expressed a strong interest in the technical issues encountered, receiving insights from Satish Kumar, the CEO of the Railway Board, throughout the exhibition.
Satish Kumar was present alongside the PM during the inauguration as they toured the inaugural track together.
The Prime Minister was informed that the maintenance of the Katra-Srinagar railway track is fully mechanized, making it the first of its kind in India, ensuring it is the safest railway track in the nation.
Additionally, PM Modi inaugurated the Anji Khad cable-stayed Railway Bridge, noted as the first of its kind in the country.
The PM walked across the bridge holding the national flag and also rode across the bridge in a railway coach.
He was joined by L-G Manoj Sinha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and CM Omar Abdullah.
Next, PM Modi is set to visit Katra, the base camp of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, where he will flag off two Vande Bharat trains, one from Katra to Srinagar and the other from Srinagar to Karra.
While the PM will physically flag off the Katra-Srinagar train, he will do so virtually for the Srinagar-Katra train.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects totaling Rs 46,000 crore.
