New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Monday that India is evolving into not just an emerging market, but rather a pioneering model—a beacon of hope for the globe, as its economy remains on a robust growth trajectory despite facing global adversities.
During the Ramnath Goenka lecture in the capital, the Prime Minister remarked, “In spite of the considerable global challenges over the past four to five years, India has managed to uphold a high growth rate.”
PM Modi highlighted that India has achieved a consistent economic growth rate approaching 7 percent, even in the face of supply chain disruptions induced by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
He also pointed out that the ‘Indian growth model’ is increasingly recognized as a template for the world.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted that in the last 11 years, the government has extended social security coverage to approximately 94 crore individuals, a significant increase from the mere 25 crore citizens receiving benefits under government schemes prior to 2014.
PM Modi mentioned that over 28 crore people have been lifted out of poverty thanks to initiatives such as the introduction of Jan Dhan accounts aimed at marginalized communities.
He also underscored the government's commitment to developing the 100 poorest districts in India, previously labeled as “Backward Districts” and largely neglected by the former UPA administration.
These districts have now been rebranded as “Aspirational Districts” and are undergoing development through tailored programs to address their unique challenges.
While past administrations often assigned officers to these districts as a form of punishment, the current government is selecting the best talent to foster growth in these regions, PM Modi stated.
Additionally, the Prime Minister urged all state governments to cultivate an investment-friendly atmosphere and enhance the ease of doing business to accelerate development.
“The nation’s progress must encompass every segment of society. We have witnessed how certain parties have prioritized their own interests in the past… However, our initiative to construct 12 crore toilets has restored dignity to those who were previously compelled to defecate in the open,” he concluded.
