Kolkata, Sep 15 (NationPress) On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at Vijay Durg, the Eastern Command Headquarters of the Indian Army, previously known as Fort William in Kolkata.
PM Modi arrived in the capital of West Bengal on Sunday evening and stayed the night at Raj Bhavan. The following morning, he commenced the crucial defence conference at Vijay Durg.
After participating in the event, PM Modi proceeded to Bihar, concluding his visit to Kolkata.
He departed from Vijay Durg at 1 p.m. for the race course, where a temporary helipad was established. The Prime Minister then took a helicopter to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport before leaving Bengal for his next destination.
Earlier that day, PM Modi inaugurated the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025 at Vijay Durg. This forum serves as the highest level of strategic discussion within the Armed Forces, uniting the nation’s top civilian and military leaders to share insights and lay the groundwork for enhancing India’s military capability.
Taking place once every two years, the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference is scheduled from September 15 to 17. The theme for this year’s gathering is ‘Year of Reforms - Transforming for the Future’.
The conference will center on reforms, transformation, and operational preparedness, emphasizing the Armed Forces' commitment to institutional reforms, deeper integration, and technological advancements while maintaining multi-domain operational readiness. Discussions will aim to fortify the Armed Forces, ensuring they remain agile, decisive, and prepared for the future in a swiftly changing geo-strategic landscape.
Attendees included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and senior officials from various ministries along with officers from all three Services and the Integrated Defence Staff. Both Rajnath Singh and Ajit Doval arrived in the city on Sunday evening.
