New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) triumph in the Milkipur Assembly constituency located in Uttar Pradesh, where a by-election took place on February 5 -- coinciding with the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly.

According to data from the Election Commission, BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan secured victory in the Milkipur bypolls, outpacing his closest opponent Ajit Prasad from the Samajwadi Party by over 60,000 votes.

It is noteworthy that the BJP had just regained power in Delhi after a 27-year hiatus, winning 48 out of 70 Assembly seats. Following this success, the Prime Minister visited the BJP office in Delhi to address party workers.

In his remarks, while congratulating the party for its achievements in Delhi, he labeled the BJP's win in the Milkipur Assembly seat in Ayodhya district as 'extraordinary' and commended the state's advancement.

During his address to party members, PM Modi stated: 'Uttar Pradesh is adjacent to Delhi, and it once faced significant challenges regarding law and order, particularly for women. The state battled encephalitis, but we committed ourselves to combat it.

'Yogi Adityanath personally spearheaded the campaign against encephalitis, advocating for it both in Parliament and in the streets as an MP. Upon becoming Chief Minister, he played an instrumental role in controlling the crisis.'

The Prime Minister further underscored the BJP's decisive victory in the Milkipur Assembly by-election in Ayodhya, noting that voters from diverse backgrounds overwhelmingly supported the party.

PM Modi stressed that 'this extraordinary win demonstrates a change in public sentiment, with citizens now favoring the BJP’s focus on development and satisfaction over appeasement politics.'

In Delhi, the BJP made history by unseating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and returning to power after 27 years.

The AAP, which was aiming for a third straight term, faced a significant defeat at the hands of the BJP.

The BJP achieved victory in 48 seats, far exceeding the majority threshold of 36, while the AAP saw its count drop to 22, a stark decline from the previous two elections.
