Kolkata, Sep 3 (NationPress) Sources within the BJP indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dual-events, comprising an administrative session and a political rally, scheduled for September 20 in the Ranaghat Lok Sabha constituency of Nadia district, West Bengal may be postponed. A leader from the state committee informed on Wednesday evening that the Prime Minister might not be able to allocate time for these events originally set for September 20.
However, the state committee clarified that these programmes are not entirely cancelled but will be rescheduled to a later date. This event was intended to be the fourth of such dual-programmes for Prime Minister Modi in 2025 in West Bengal.
The series commenced with an event in Alipurduar town in June, followed by a meeting in Durgapur in July, and another in Dum Dum in August. During these political rallies, the Prime Minister heavily criticized the West Bengal government, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and the ruling Trinamool Congress, addressing issues like extensive corruption, the alarming rise in crimes against women, and incidents of communal tension.
According to BJP insiders, there is a strong possibility that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may arrive in Kolkata on the evening of September 21 to inaugurate two community Durga Pujas on September 22.
Shah is expected to return to New Delhi on the evening of September 22. Earlier this year, the West Bengal BJP unit proposed a plan for five public meetings by Prime Minister Modi in the state over the remaining five months of 2025, aiming for one meeting each month.
Additionally, the BJP plans to hold a grand central rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata in January of next year, where the Prime Minister will also be present.
Insiders suggest that the geographical locations for the Prime Minister's meetings for the rest of the year will be strategically planned to cover significant portions of both south and north Bengal, focusing on areas at the intersections of multiple districts.
