New Delhi/Itanagar, Feb 20 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Friday that the NDA government at the Centre has allocated unparalleled attention and resources to the holistic development of the Northeast region, marking a transformative era of growth, connectivity, and prospects throughout the area.
In a letter addressed to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the occasion of the 40th Statehood Day, the Prime Minister highlighted the Centre's relentless efforts to enhance connectivity in this border state.
“Over the past decade, we have constructed thousands of kilometers of roads, many reaching remote locales. The inauguration and on-time completion of significant projects like the Donyi Polo Airport and Sela tunnel during our administration showcase our dedication to comprehensive connectivity,” PM Modi stated.
Pointing out Arunachal Pradesh’s unique geographical position as the first state to greet the sunrise in India, the Prime Minister remarked, “It is only appropriate that this land, which welcomes dawn ahead of the rest of India, embodies such vibrant patriotism and spirit. I am particularly moved by the tradition of locals greeting each other with 'Jai Hind', which stands as a living testament to national pride and unity.”
PM Modi acknowledged the rich tapestry of tribal communities in Arunachal Pradesh, each with its own inspiring traditions and values. He noted, “The community’s commitment to sustainability is evident through various individual and collective initiatives.”
Reflecting on his visits to the northeastern state, he shared, “I have had the privilege of visiting Arunachal Pradesh several times. Each visit is met with unparalleled warmth from the people.”
From Itanagar, the GST Bachat Utsav was inaugurated, where PM Modi interacted with Self Help Groups and traders statewide. “Their innovative spirit resonated with me. I was inspired by their dedication to local products such as rice, pickles, tea, handicrafts, carpets, and confections. I was also struck by their technological advancement,” he commented.
The Prime Minister noted the pride felt when a son of the soil, Kiren Rijiju, became the first Union Cabinet Minister from Arunachal Pradesh, adding that ministerial visits have significantly increased over the last decade compared to previous administrations.
PM Modi reiterated his government’s commitment to resolving connectivity challenges in Arunachal Pradesh, stating that thousands of kilometers of roads have been established, many in remote regions, and highlighted key projects like the Donyi Polo airport and Sela tunnel as testaments to their resolve for enhanced connectivity.
He emphasized that many villages in Arunachal Pradesh are located in border areas, which traditionally are viewed as 'last villages'. “I reject this mindset. To me, these border villages are the 'first villages', which inspired the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme that has greatly benefitted Arunachal Pradesh. Other successful initiatives include the Ujala Scheme, PM Kisan, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, and the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Excitement was expressed over the ongoing efforts for the documentation and digitization of rare manuscripts in districts like Tawang, West Kameng, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, and Namsai under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, which will help preserve the state's rich intellectual and spiritual heritage.
“We are also making significant strides in promoting tourism, particularly nature and adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh,” PM Modi noted, asserting that every time a Minister returns from the state, they bring back positive tales about its beauty and its people, encouraging more visitors to experience it.
In closing, PM Modi commended the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their contributions to the nation's progress, highlighting their roles as brave soldiers at the frontiers, successful athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, and civil servants who have made significant contributions to India's growth and security.
