Damoh, Dec 20 (NationPress) The Union government's Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM-POSHAN) initiative is dedicated to providing hot and freshly prepared meals for students up to class 8 in Anganwadi centers and government-operated schools, fulfilling its mission under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led administration in Madhya Pradesh.
The delight on the faces of children at a government-run 'Sandipani' (previously known as CM RISE) school in Tendukheda village of Damoh district was a clear indicator of success, as reported by IANS on Saturday.
Students were seen in long lines enjoying 'pudi-sabzi' and dal served in their plates.
"Yahan achha khana milta hai. Isliye hum roj school aate hain (we get good meals here, so we come to school every day)," shared Shikha Lodhi, a class 5 student, adding, "Aaj hum poodi-sabzi aur dal kha rahein hain (today we are eating poodi-sabzi and dal)."
Other students at Damoh's 'Sandipani' Vidyalaya expressed their joy over receiving diverse hot meals daily, as stipulated by the Mid-day Meal (MDM) scheme, which is mandatory in every state-run school for students up to class 8.
Madan Singh Lodhi, a teacher at the Sandipani school, affirmed that children are served meals every school day according to the state government’s menu.
He mentioned, "Saturday's menu includes poodi, sabji, and tur dal. We ensure that the food menu decided under the Mid-day Meal is adhered to daily here."
Lodhi also informed IANS that any issues are communicated to the district administration promptly.
The Mid-day Meal is prepared by women from a self-help group, ensuring that the meals are not only hot and fresh but also hygienic, served in a clean area within the school premises.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'PM POSHAN' scheme and the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' initiative during his visit to Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh on his birthday, September 17 this year.
This central welfare program aims to provide nutritional support and enhance students' school participation.
During this event, PM Modi also laid the foundation for India's first PM MITRA Park in Bhainsola village of Dhar. This initiative represents a textile hub that aligns with the Prime Minister’s 5F Vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign—aimed at integrating India's textile value chain.
