Chennai, Sep 1 (NationPress) MLA P. Arul from Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) announced on Monday that the party's nine-member Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC), established by founder Dr. S. Ramadoss, has successfully concluded its discussions and has forwarded its recommendations in a sealed envelope.
During a press briefing after a meeting at Thailapuram, Arul stated that the committee addressed matters that had negatively impacted the party's image and engaged in discussions for over two hours before finalizing its report. "The meeting minutes, along with the recommendations, have been handed over to the party founder. He will make the ultimate decision," the MLA remarked.
The DAC was initiated following various incidents in recent months that caused internal conflict within PMK. Party members revealed that the committee scrutinized numerous complaints and controversies, particularly those linked to senior leaders, prior to compiling its report. Arul also mentioned that several important meetings are planned for this week.
On Tuesday (September 2), district secretaries and presidents will gather, followed by an administrative committee meeting the next day. Officials from the Vanniyar Sangam, the parent organization of PMK, are expected to join the district secretaries' meeting.
"The discussions will concentrate on the party's expansion, future strategies, and membership recruitment," Arul stated. Notably, the MLA emphasized that the party's founder holds the power to accept, modify, or dismiss the DAC's suggestions. "Dr. Ramadoss alone is authorized to make the final call on the committee's conclusions," Arul explained. When questioned about the status of the party's working president, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Arul indicated that there has been no response to the show-cause notice issued to him.
"So far, Dr. Anbumani has not responded," he mentioned. The notice was issued due to ongoing tensions between the leadership and the disciplinary committee. The results of these discussions are expected to significantly influence PMK's internal dynamics ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Party members are hopeful that the founder's decision will be crucial in reinstating discipline and determining the organization's political direction in the upcoming months.
