PM's Remarks on AAP Confirm Congress's Significant Contributions to Delhi Development: Sandeep Dikshit

New Delhi, Jan 5 (NationPress) Former Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit expressed praise for his party and its past governance in the capital after Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the AAP administration for its mismanagement of the city.
“It’s not only the PM but every resident of Delhi acknowledges that the AAP government has failed to serve the city. This serves as an indirect acknowledgment of the significant progress made by the former Congress government,” Dikshit remarked to IANS.
“As dedicated Congress members, we are bringing this success to the forefront for the voters,” said Dikshit, the son of three-time Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who is running against AAP National Convenor and incumbent MLA Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming Assembly elections from the New Delhi constituency.
Criticizing Kejriwal's corruption and extravagant spending on the refurbishment of his previous official residence, Dikshit welcomed the decision to audit the Public Works Department’s expenses related to the property, which Kejriwal intended to use for opulent gatherings.
“I have reviewed a draft audit report indicating an initial project estimate of Rs 8 crore. It’s essential to note that after a tender is approved, the cost cannot exceed that amount, with only certain component costs allowed to increase,” he explained.
“In this scenario, while the estimate could climb to Rs 11 crore, they permitted an expenditure of Rs 32 lakh for renovation,” he pointed out, emphasizing the wasteful spending on items like furniture, TVs, and curtains.
“The renovation of the CM’s residence was conducted as if a monarch were expending funds on a facility for personal enjoyment,” he remarked.
Addressing the matter of illegal immigrants in Delhi, Dikshit expressed his support for identifying and deporting unauthorized foreigners. “Our citizens shouldn’t face harassment in the guise of removing infiltrators,” he stated.
The Congress leader also criticized former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri for his controversial remarks concerning Priyanka Gandhi. “It is deplorable to use such language against a woman. Regardless of Priyanka ji being a politician and public figure, such comments should not come from another political leader,” he asserted.
Dikshit expressed hope that either the police or the Congress would take legal action against the offender.
