Amaravati, April 2 (NationPress) The Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, K. Vijayanand, conducted an initial assessment with officials regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's impending visit to Amaravati this month, aimed at resuming construction projects for the state's capital.
The Prime Minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone or inaugurate several other developmental initiatives.
A comprehensive review of the arrangements will occur once the details of the Prime Minister's visit are confirmed. Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary has directed officials to prioritize preparations being organized by the relevant departments.
He recommended that officials from the concerned departments initiate necessary activities, including leveling an area exceeding 50 acres to facilitate the Prime Minister's visit, ensuring it occurs at the same location where the P-4 program was recently launched, alongside establishing suitable parking and other logistical arrangements.
Attendees of the meeting included the Director General of Police, officials from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the Guntur District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and Medical and Health Commissioner Veera Pandian.
Vijayanand urged officials to compile a list of personnel who were actively involved during the Prime Minister's previous visits to the state to leverage their experience.
Considering the ongoing summer season, provisions must be made to ensure adequate facilities for all VVIPs, VIPs, and attendees of the event.
Developmental activities are anticipated to recommence from Uddandarayunipalem, the site where Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone on October 22, 2015, during the tenure of the TDP.
Some developmental works were initiated by the prior state government. However, these efforts stalled after the TDP lost power in 2019, as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, opted to develop three capitals.
Following the TDP's return to power in June of last year, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made the decision to revive the work on his envisioned project.
The CRDA approved tenders on March 11 for 59 developmental projects valued at Rs 37,702 crore.
Previously, the CRDA had called tenders for 73 projects totaling Rs 48,012 crore. The state government aims to allocate Rs 64,721 crore in the first phase to execute development works and provide essential amenities.
The government is mobilizing Rs 31,000 crore to reinitiate the projects. It has borrowed Rs 15,000 crore from the World Bank, while Rs 11,000 crore will be sourced from HUDCO, and an additional Rs 5,000 crore will be acquired from various banks.
