Amaravati, April 16 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Amaravati on May 2 to re-initiate the capital development projects for Andhra Pradesh, as confirmed by the state government on Wednesday.

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand stated that the Prime Minister's visit is officially scheduled for May 2. During this visit, he will both inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects.

However, the exact timing of the programme remains undecided.

The Chief Minister convened a meeting with officials at the State Secretariat on Wednesday to assess the preparations for the Prime Minister's visit.

He mentioned that the venue for the Prime Minister's programme will be organized in the vicinity where the P-4 programme was recently launched, located behind the State Secretariat.

Veerapandian, the Commissioner of Medical Health and Family Welfare, designated as the nodal officer for overseeing arrangements, indicated that provisions will be made for approximately 500,000 participants in the meeting.

The government has already formed a cabinet sub-committee, including state ministers Payyavula Keshav, Kollu Ravindra, Satyakumar Yadav, Nadendla Manohar, and P. Narayana, to manage the preparations for the Prime Minister's visit, he reported.

This committee is scheduled to meet with officials at the Amaravati Secretariat next week to finalize arrangements.

He emphasized that comprehensive and stringent measures need to be in place for the Prime Minister's visit, and relevant directives will be issued to the officials of the respective departments on Thursday.

Vijayanand instructed the officials to compile a list of personnel who had previously served during the Prime Minister's recent visit to Visakhapatnam, ensuring that suitable duties will be allocated to those officials again.

Considering the prevailing summer conditions, he urged officials to ensure minimum facilities and make adequate arrangements to prevent any inconvenience for public representatives, citizens, and others attending the Prime Minister's visit.

Dignitaries and ordinary citizens will access the venue through various villages, and since all routes are rural, appropriate actions must be taken to avert traffic issues.

On October 22, 2015, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for Amaravati at a ceremony conducted in Uddandarayunipalem.

While some development initiatives were initiated by the previous TDP government, these works were halted after the TDP lost power in 2019, as the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy opted to establish three state capitals.

Following the return of the TDP-led NDA to power in June of the previous year, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to resume work on this ambitious project.

The CRDA approved tenders for 59 development initiatives totaling Rs 37,702 crore on March 11.

Previously, the CRDA had solicited tenders for 73 projects worth Rs 48,012 crore. The state government aims to invest Rs 64,721 crore in the first phase to carry out development works and establish essential amenities.
