Pune, Feb 4 (NationPress) BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has reported that his mother suffered serious injuries after being intentionally hit by a vehicle in Pune, prompting him to call upon authorities to swiftly capture the perpetrator.

As per Poonawalla's account, an unidentified assailant allegedly drove into his mother and fled the scene, leaving her in critical condition. He mentioned that she is scheduled for surgery shortly and requested prayers for her healing.

On social media, Poonawalla expressed his outrage, stating, “Just hours ago, a truly despicable individual ran over my mother with his car on purpose -- leaving her severely injured and then fleeing the scene. She will undergo surgery very soon. Please pray for her.”

Sharing his sorrow over the situation, the BJP spokesperson described his mother as a caring person, stating that the incident has deeply impacted him.

“My mother is one of the kindest and most wonderful people, and for her to experience this at her age makes my blood boil and my heart ache,” he remarked.

He tagged the Pune City Police, the Pune Commissioner of Police, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the Chief Minister’s Office in his post, urging for stringent legal action against the culprit.

“I hope the Pune Police will catch this person and ensure he faces justice,” he added.

In a related development, Poonawalla’s brother, political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla, shared CCTV footage on social media that purportedly shows the moment their mother was struck by the vehicle.

Tehseen recounted, “My mom, a senior citizen, went for a drive with my driver and executive assistant and was waiting on the side while they filled up the gas. Someone just hit her (appears deliberate) and then fled!”

He also mentioned that a police complaint would be filed, with ongoing efforts to identify the vehicle involved.

“We will file a police complaint and obtain the car's license plate! If you see the video, Pune Police, my mom was standing quite far, so how could someone hit her?” he expressed.

Tehseen provided an update on their mother’s health, noting that she has sustained a fractured hip and will need surgery.

“Her hip is broken, and she will undergo surgery! We have admitted her to the hospital. If her vitals are stable, surgery will happen tomorrow. This is truly outrageous!” he added.

Expressing his frustration, he stated, “It’s infuriating that a senior citizen has to endure this. There was a previous threat against me, for which there were police reports, so the Pune Police can take action... But my heart aches that my senior citizen mother has to face this trauma and pain.”

In further updates, Tehseen noted, “Mom will need hip surgery and a rod for life! This is incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking! I spoke with the Joint Commissioner of Police and DCP. What a vile person who either did this on purpose or decided to flee after hitting a senior citizen!”

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, and further details are anticipated as investigations continue.
