Power Distribution: Karnataka CM Affirms Adherence to Congress Leadership Directives

Bengaluru, Dec 4 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded to media inquiries about a purported 'agreement' with state Congress President D.K. Shivakumar regarding power sharing, emphasizing that there is no such agreement and they will "adhere to the directives of the high command."

While addressing the matter in Mandya on Wednesday, CM Siddaramaiah remarked, "We will follow the instructions of the high command."

In response to CM Siddaramaiah's comments, Deputy CM Shivakumar stated, "When the Chief Minister has made the statement, I have no objection and it is final. No further questions or debate. I have addressed inquiries on this matter previously."

Sources indicate that CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar had agreed to share power equally throughout the five-year term of the government.

These statements have gained significance against the backdrop of CM Siddaramaiah's supporters organizing a series of conventions throughout Karnataka to mobilize support for oppressed, backward classes, and minorities, collectively known as Ahinda groups.

Supporters of CM Siddaramaiah have arranged for a large convention on December 5 in Hassan, with plans for a turnout of 200,000 attendees.

The convention was initially titled ‘Swabhimani Samavesha’, but after objections from senior leaders, particularly Deputy CM Shivakumar, it has been renamed 'Jan Kalyan Samavesha.'

Both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah were contenders for the Chief Minister's position, and following the election, the Congress high command selected Siddaramaiah for the role.

Supporters of CM Siddaramaiah leveraged his clean image as a significant advantage against Shivakumar and initiated discussions about increasing the number of Deputy CM positions.

However, CM Siddaramaiah is currently facing an FIR and charges in the MUDA case, where he is the prime accused, and has been questioned by the Lokayukta. The ED is also investigating the case.

In the meantime, CM Siddaramaiah is preparing for a Cabinet reshuffle.

Karnataka's Minister for Higher Education, M.C. Sudhakar, has indicated that the high command has requested reports from all Cabinet ministers, and he has submitted his report.

"The party has given us Cabinet posts not to show off but to perform. Thus, responsibilities must be fulfilled. The image of the party and the government needs to be taken care of," he asserted.
