The state government has implemented extensive preparations for the President’s visit and stay.
Last week, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari convened a meeting with senior officials to assess the arrangements. She instructed officials to collaborate closely and ensure meticulous preparations are made.
Officials from the Forest Department have assigned snake catchers and completed their tasks ahead of time. The Chief Secretary mandated that a snake-catching team remain on standby around the clock at the Rashtrapati Nilayam. Additionally, specialized teams are to be assigned to handle any monkey issues in coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The GHMC was also instructed to oversee the removal of bee hives well in advance.
During her time in the city, the President will participate in several events. This marks President Murmu's third visit to Hyderabad for a southern retreat since her election to the presidency in July of last year.
The President typically spends at least one week each year at Rashtrapati Nilayam, conducting official duties from this location. Originally built in 1860 as the country residence for the British Resident at Secunderabad, it transitioned to become the President's retreat after the accession of Hyderabad State to India in 1948. The first President, Babu Rajendra Prasad, utilized the residence in 1955, and since then, every President has visited Hyderabad for a southern retreat at least once a year.
