President Droupadi Murmu's Visit to Hyderabad for Southern Retreat

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu touched down in Hyderabad on Tuesday for a five-day southern retreat.

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, along with his Cabinet members and senior officials, extended a warm welcome at Hakimpet Air Force Station.

She then proceeded to Rashtrapati Nilayam located in Bolarum, Secunderabad, where her stay will continue until December 21.

Among those present were Minister for Panchayat Raj Seethakka, Government Advisor Venugopal, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and various other officials.

To facilitate her arrival, Cyberabad and Hyderabad Police enforced traffic regulations along the route from the Air Force Station to Rashtrapati Nilayam.

On December 18, the President is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple initiatives at Rashtrapati Nilayam.

On December 20, she will award the President’s Colours to the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad.

That evening, she will host an At Home Reception at Rashtrapati Nilayam for notable dignitaries, leading citizens, and academics.

The state government has made extensive arrangements for the President's visit.

In light of prior incidents, the forest department has stationed snake catchers at Rashtrapati Nilayam, and a team has been assigned to monitor the premises around the clock. Likewise, special teams have been organized to manage the monkey situation in collaboration with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

This marks Murmu’s third visit to Hyderabad for a southern retreat since her election to the highest office in July of last year.

The President typically stays at Rashtrapati Nilayam at least once a year, conducting official duties from this location.

This building was originally built in 1860 as the country residence of the British Resident in Secunderabad. Following Hyderabad State's integration into India in 1948, it transitioned into the President's retreat.

The first President, Babu Rajendra Prasad, stayed here in 1955, and since then, every President has made it a tradition to visit Hyderabad for a southern retreat at least once a year for one week.
