Hyderabad, Dec 11 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu is set to arrive in Hyderabad on December 17 for a five-day retreat in the southern region.
K. Ramakrishna Rao, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, disclosed on Thursday that during her winter retreat, President Murmu will reside at Rashtrapati Nilayam from December 17 to 21.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted a review of the preparations for the President's visit with senior officials at the B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat.
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to collaborate closely and ensure comprehensive arrangements for the President’s visit.
He emphasized the need for coordination among Central government departments, state officials, and Rashtrapati Nilayam staff.
He directed the police department to formulate a detailed security, traffic, and crowd management strategy; the fire department to assign appropriate personnel and ensure robust fire safety measures; and the health department to have a medical team readily available.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the State Roads and Buildings Department to implement necessary barricades and road repairs in collaboration with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the police, while also ensuring continuous power supply with support from the electricity department.
A dedicated snake-catching team will be on standby at the Rashtrapati Nilayam 24/7.
Additionally, GHMC officials have been tasked with deploying special teams to manage the monkey population around Rashtrapati Nilayam and to prepare for honeybee capture.
Every year, the President spends time at Rashtrapati Nilayam and conducts official duties from this location.
This historic building was erected in 1860 as the residence of the British Resident in Secunderabad. After Hyderabad's incorporation into India in 1948, it transformed into the President's retreat.
The first President, Rajendra Prasad, utilized the facility in 1955, and since then, every President has visited Hyderabad for a week-long southern retreat annually.
