Thiruvananthapuram, April 5 (NationPress) With the film Empuraan currently under examination and receiving criticism from the RSS mouthpiece, the director and lead actor, Prithviraj Sukumaran, has been issued a notice by the Income Tax Department.
The notice requests clarification regarding his earnings and financial transactions associated with films released in 2022.
Empuraan premiered in theatres on March 27, and the notice was dispatched on March 29. Prithviraj must reply to the notice by April 29.
His mother, veteran actress Mallika Sukumaran, confirmed the news, stating that her son has committed no wrongdoing and will address the matter accordingly.
The IT notice relates to three films -- Jana Gana Mana, Kaduva, and Gold -- where Prithviraj served as both an actor and co-producer.
Authorities have raised queries concerning inconsistencies in the accounting of his remuneration.

He gained fame with Classmates and, in 2006, earned the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his role in Vaasthavam.
