Chandigarh, February 6 (NationPress) The Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav made a visit to Jalandhar on Friday to convene a high-level meeting with senior law enforcement officials aimed at assessing the ongoing investigation into the assassination of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satwinderpal Singh, also known as Lucky Oberoi.
During his visit, he personally examined the crime scene for a comprehensive evaluation.
Speaking to reporters at the site, the DGP emphasized the commitment of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led administration to uphold law and order, vowing that those responsible for this heinous act will face justice and receive severe penalties in accordance with the law.
The DGP was joined by Jalandhar Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur.
“CM (Bhagwant Mann) is closely overseeing the situation and is regularly briefed on the case's progression,” stated DGP Yadav.
Reports indicate that Lucky Oberoi was attacked by unidentified gunmen while riding a white Activa scooter on Friday morning at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha Parking area in Jalandhar's Model Town, just after he had paid his respects.
Unfortunately, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
DGP Yadav confirmed that the investigation is being conducted with a focus on professionalism and scientific methods.
“We are currently scrutinizing all previous investigations and monitoring the movements of the suspects,” he added.
Additionally, police teams have gathered mobile tower data to further the investigation through technical means.
“Every possible angle of the crime is being meticulously examined,” the DGP remarked.
Providing updates, CP Dhanpreet Kaur noted that initial findings suggest that both suspects, clad in black hoodies, escaped the scene on their Activa scooter.
Ongoing investigations are underway, she confirmed.
An FIR has been lodged under Sections 103(1), 3 (5), and 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Police Station Division 6 in the Jalandhar Commissionerate.
