Chandigarh, March 16 (NationPress) The national General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tarun Chugh, stated on Sunday that Punjab has become entirely a lawless state, where the AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann has allowed anti-national elements to operate freely.
He remarked that neither temples nor gurdwaras appear to be safe as disruptive forces are gaining ground in the region.
Chugh noted that as the AAP government approaches its three-year mark in power, Punjab has devolved into a landscape of fear, insecurity, and economic bankruptcy.
According to the BJP leader, under Bhagwant Mann, the law and order situation has completely deteriorated, resulting in one of the most severe security crises in the state's history.
The recent grenade attack at the Thakurdwara temple in Amritsar serves as another chilling example of the declining law and order in Punjab.
“This incident is not an isolated case; Punjab has seen a series of assaults on religious sites, businesses, and law enforcement agencies, highlighting the complete failure of the AAP government to uphold peace and security,” Chugh emphasized.
He questioned: “What is Bhagwant Mann doing while Punjab is under siege? Why are criminals and anti-national forces being allowed to operate freely?”
Chugh criticized the Mann administration for transforming the police force into a political instrument while ordinary citizens live in fear.
Once renowned as ‘Rangla Punjab’ – the land of joy and prosperity, Punjab has now turned into a hub of drug abuse, crime, and economic turmoil.
The same Punjab that used to nourish the entire nation is now grappling with the inability to pay its own employees.
Farmers, traders, and industries are enduring significant hardships under the AAP regime, as Punjab’s economy continues to decline with little hope for recovery.
Referring to the most recent financial health report, Chugh pointed out that Punjab ranks among the worst-performing states in India regarding fiscal management. The government has failed to generate revenue, create jobs, or foster industrial growth.
Instead, AAP’s priority has been on publicity stunts and empty promises, while the residents of Punjab suffer.
“Where are the promised Rs 1,000 allowances for women? Where are the medical colleges that were supposed to be established? What has happened to the job guarantees for the youth?” Chugh questioned, condemning AAP’s total failure to deliver on its pre-election commitments.
He mentioned that the people of Punjab have now recognized their error and are eagerly anticipating 2027 to oust AAP and reinstate BJP in power.
