Punjab Requires Strong Leadership to Combat Lawlessness: BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 25 (NationPress) The President of the BJP in Punjab, Sunil Jakhar, emphasized on Wednesday that the state requires robust leadership that can make decisive actions and ensure effective implementation to combat lawlessness and restore a sense of security for its citizens.
He maintained that only assertive leadership can effectively tackle lawlessness, ensure safety for residents, and guide the state back to a trajectory of development.
Jakhar pointed out that the BJP possesses the necessary capabilities to provide such governance, urging the people of Punjab to determine their own future.
“It is up to the citizens of Punjab to choose whether they want to live each day in fear of violence or to opt for a peaceful Punjab rooted in social harmony, ” he stated while addressing the media.
Criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Jakhar alleged that its irresponsible and immature administration has led to a transformation of narco-terrorism into a gangster-dominated scenario.
“Gangsters entice young individuals with promises of a glamorous lifestyle. These youths are instigating fear throughout the state,” asserted the BJP leader.
Blaming Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for the current situation, Jakhar claimed that the state’s intelligence system has utterly failed, reducing the police to merely conducting post-incident encounters instead of proactively ensuring public safety.
“These actions merely create an illusion of law enforcement and aim to appease public outrage,” he alleged.
Jakhar further reported that nearly 20 incidents involving hand grenade attacks have occurred in Punjab recently.
“This reflects the collusion between gangsters, drug trafficking networks, and terrorism, yet the state government has shown complete ineptitude in addressing this issue. Previously, Punjab faced the terror of AK-47s, but now hand grenades have become the alarming standard,” he remarked.
He noted that the prevailing atmosphere of fear has significantly impacted ordinary citizens across the region.
“The toll of this fear and panic is borne by the average Punjabi, who constantly worries about their safety and property. Instead of deploying police for public safety, they are being assigned to secure events like pre-wedding videography of AAP leaders,” Jakhar claimed.
In response to another query, Jakhar described it as “utterly laughable” that the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) spoke at a rally in Moga and then attempted to label it as a government event.
Displaying a social media post from the Chief Minister on that day, Jakhar noted that the Chief Minister himself referred to it as an Aam Aadmi Party rally.
He questioned the legitimacy of the state’s top civil and police officials addressing what he characterized as a political gathering.
