Chandigarh, Aug 19 (NationPress) The Counter Intelligence unit of Punjab Police in Jalandhar has successfully recovered one hand grenade following the apprehension of two members of the pro-Khalistan militant group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) from Rajasthan a few days ago, as stated by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Tuesday.
One of the detained individuals was named Ritik Naroliya, while the other was a minor.
The suspects' confessions led to the capture of their accomplices, including Vishavjit from Kolkata, who was attempting to flee to Malaysia, and Jackson from Nakodar, Punjab, which resulted in the recovery of the 86P grenade.
According to the DGP, all suspects were operating under the instructions of BKI leaders based in Canada, Zeeshan Akhtar and Ajay Gill.
Both Vishavjit and Jackson had obtained two hand grenades from Beas through their associates in the last week of July. One of these grenades was detonated at a liquor store in SBS Nagar ten days ago by other members of this group.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in Amritsar.
On the eve of Independence Day, the Counter Intelligence team in Ferozepur thwarted a significant terror plot orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI-backed terrorist Harwinder Rinda, leading to the arrest of two BKI operatives.
The suspects have been identified as Harpreet Singh, aka Preet, from Tarn Taran, and Gulshan Singh from Amritsar.
Law enforcement recovered two 86P hand grenades and a 9MM pistol along with five live cartridges from their possession.
This incident occurred just two days after Punjab Police dismantled a BKI terror module, arresting five operatives, including three minors, in the Tonk and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan, recovering one 86P hand grenade and a .30 bore pistol.
DGP Yadav indicated that initial investigations revealed the arrested individuals were acting on instructions from their handlers located in Britain, the US, and Europe.
The inquiry has also uncovered that the detained individuals were actively plotting to target government buildings and police facilities using grenades to disrupt the peace in the border state.
