New Delhi, Jan 23 (NationPress) The Republic Day parade will serve as a remarkable exhibition of the strength, valour, and discipline of the armed forces, as stated by an army official on Thursday.
A full dress rehearsal took place at Kartavya Path on Wednesday in preparation for the parade.
“The 76th Republic Day Parade on 26 January will be a magnificent celebration of India’s rich heritage and progress as a nation,” the official remarked.
At Kartavya Path on Republic Day, the Army will display its Bhishma Tank-T90, SARATH Infantry Carrying Vehicle BMP-II, NAMIS (Nag Missile System), CHETAK (All Terrain Vehicle), BRAHMOS, AGNIBAAN, and the PINAKA missile system.
Additionally, the army will showcase KAPIDHWAJ (Specialist Mobility Vehicle), BAJRANG (Light Specialist Vehicle), AIRAWAT (Vehicle Mounted Infantry Mortar System), NANDIGHOSH (Quick Reaction Force Vehicle (Heavy)), TRIPURANTAK (Quick Reaction Force Vehicle (Medium)), SANJAY (Battlefield Surveillance System for High Altitude Areas), SANJAY (Battlefield Surveillance System for Desert), LAGHU ANTARAL SETU PRANALI 10M (Short Span Bridging System 10M), and the Akash Weapon System,” the official added.
The Brigade of the Guards, Mechanised Infantry Regiment, Punjab Regiment, Rajput Regiment, JAT Regiment Contingent, Garhwal Rifles Regiment Contingent, Sikh Light Infantry, and Bihar Regiment will all be part of the marching and band contingents during the parade.
Before the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
“The parade will kick off at 10:30 AM with the ‘National Salute’ and will last for 90 minutes, reflecting India’s heritage and growth,” the official mentioned.
During the parade, the army will also display New Generation Equipment in the Mechanised Column.
“There will be six marching contingents from the Army, eight Mechanised Columns, and Mounted Cavalry participating,” he said.
Furthermore, there will be tableaux from the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) and Veterans.
“One of the major attractions of the Republic Day celebration at Kartavya Path will be the motorcycle display by the Corps of Signals (Army),” he noted.
Additionally, flower petals will be showered by IAF helicopters.
“The event will conclude with a flypast by the fighter jets of the Indian Air Force,” he stated.
Moreover, Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees will also participate in the parade.
“The Indonesian Contingent and Band will march at Kartavya Path as the Country of the Chief Guest. There will be a veteran’s tableau titled: Swarmin Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” he continued, adding that the Navy Brass Band, Navy Marching Contingent, and Navy Tableau will showcase the achievements of the Indian Navy.
“The Indian Coast Guards will feature their band, a marching contingent, and a tableau highlighting coastal security and maritime search and rescue,” he explained.
The parade will proceed along the route from Vijay Chowk to the National Stadium via Kartavya Path, with President Droupadi Murmu taking the salute during this prestigious event.
“The Indian Army will be represented by a Mounted Column, eight Mechanised Columns, and six Marching Contingents. Lt Gen Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding Delhi Area, will serve as the Parade Commander, while Maj Gen Sumit, VSM, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area, will be the Parade second in command,” the official concluded.
