The event, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions at Vigyan Bhawan, will revolve around the theme “Viksit Bharat: Citizen-Centric Governance and Development at the Last Mile,” as indicated in an official statement.
The opening session will feature remarks from Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh, along with a welcome address by Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan.
Following this, a panel discussion entitled ‘Role and Effectiveness of Civil Services - An External Perspective’ will convene, bringing together esteemed figures from government, industry, and policy institutions to discuss enhancing accountability, innovation, and service delivery in governance.
Civil Services Day is commemorated annually, serving as a reminder for civil servants across India to recommit themselves to serving citizens and striving for excellence in their duties.
On this day in 1947, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel famously addressed the probationers of the All India Administrative Service, referring to civil servants as the steel frame of India.
The sessions at this event will unite senior officials, experts, and stakeholders for comprehensive discussions and the sharing of best practices aimed at bolstering citizen-centric governance and enhancing last-mile service delivery.
Notably, the session on ‘Sustainable Livelihood through PM Vishwakarma’ will be led by Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi, while the session addressing ‘Non-Communicable Diseases in India: From Preventive to Care’ will be chaired by Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, according to the statement.
