New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi engaged with patients and their families waiting for treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He criticized both the Central and Delhi governments for their insensitivity towards these individuals.

The Congress party disseminated details of this visit through its social media platforms.

In a post on X, the party revealed that Rahul Gandhi visited the institute late Thursday night, where he had discussions with patients and their companions.

Videos shared by the party depicted Gandhi conversing with attendees and offering them assurance. He attentively listened to their concerns, with some individuals providing written notes that he forwarded to his team.

The Congress party stated, "Months of waiting for treatment, coupled with the inconvenience and insensitivity of the government – this is the harsh reality faced by patients at Delhi AIIMS today. The situation is so dire that individuals traveling from distant locations, burdened by their loved ones' illnesses, are compelled to sleep on footpaths and in subways during this freezing weather."

Describing the visit, the party noted, "Leader of Opposition Shri @RahulGandhi met with patients awaiting treatment, listened to their issues, and engaged in meaningful conversations with them.

The post highlighted that the Leader of Opposition met patients and their families outside Delhi AIIMS. "Those who have journeyed from afar for treatment are forced to sleep on roads, footpaths, and in subways," the party emphasized.

While criticizing the Central government and the AAP-governed Delhi administration, Congress stated, "The Modi Government and the Delhi Government have abandoned their responsibilities, leaving these individuals to fend for themselves."

Rahul Gandhi expressed in a Hindi post on Instagram, "Faced with the dual challenges of illness and the biting cold, I met with patients and their families outside AIIMS who have traveled from various regions seeking treatment."

"On their journey for medical assistance, they are forced to sleep on roads, footpaths, and in subways - maintaining a flicker of hope amid the chilling ground, hunger, and hardships," Gandhi added.

One patient remarked, "He requested my phone number and assured me that his team would reach out to assist as much as possible. My 13-year-old daughter is battling blood cancer. We arrived here on December 3, but proper treatment has been lacking since then."

Another patient, Govind Lal, shared, "He inquired about my stay here and asked about my daughters' treatment." A relative of another patient indicated that they had been enduring the cold with no alternative, as they lacked financial resources.
