Ahmedabad, April 14 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to commence a two-day tour of Gujarat on April 15 (Tuesday), during which he will initiate a pilot project designed to rejuvenate the party's grassroots framework in the region.

This initiative is regarded as a significant component of the Congress party's larger strategy to restore its organizational capacity in Gujarat, a state where it has been out of power for three decades.

Gandhi will begin his journey in Ahmedabad with an orientation meeting that will involve 42 All India Congress Committee (AICC) and 183 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) observers.

These observers were designated by the AICC on April 12 to supervise the selection of district committee presidents across 33 districts and eight major cities in Gujarat. The initiative will encompass a total of 41 organizational units. “The observers will be instrumental in identifying and appointing local leadership to rejuvenate the party structure,” stated Gujarat Congress President Shaktisinh Gohil. “Rahul Gandhi will directly engage with them to share the vision and expectations of the leadership,” he added.

On Wednesday, Gandhi will head to Modasa in Aravalli district, where he will address party workers and officially launch the pilot project focused on fortifying district-level units. This initiative is being closely monitored as a trial for similar organizational reforms in other regions. Gandhi’s visit follows recent high-profile sessions of the AICC and the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in Ahmedabad on April 8 and 9.

These meetings, the first held in Gujarat in several years, were perceived as part of a renewed effort to reclaim political influence in a state that has predominantly been a BJP stronghold. This visit also builds upon Gandhi's previous tour of Gujarat in March, where he interacted with party workers and civil society organizations, emphasizing the need for grassroots mobilization and inclusive politics.
