Patna, May 3 (NationPress) The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, has delivered a fierce critique of Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief Lalu Prasad and Bihar's Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of politicizing the caste-based census and deceiving the citizens of India.

While addressing the press at Patna airport on Friday, Rai questioned Lalu Prasad’s commitment to social justice.

"If Lalu Prasad Yadav genuinely cared about social justice, why did he not initiate a caste-based census during his years in power with the Congress?" he posed.

Rai asserted that the core agenda of the RJD leader revolves around corruption and dynastic politics.

"His focus has consistently been on promoting family members in politics, amassing riches through corruption. Now, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the caste-based census, they attempt to masquerade as advocates for the cause," he added.

Taking aim at the Congress-led UPA government, Rai pointed out that the caste census carried out in 2011 was never revealed to the public.

"They initiated a caste census in 2011 but chose not to disclose the findings. During the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, a survey was conducted, which cannot replace an official nationwide census," he emphasized.

The Union Minister stated that it is the NDA government, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that is genuinely devoted to the upliftment of the poor, Dalits, and marginalized communities.

"The caste-based census will serve as a key instrument in promoting social justice, facilitating development for the most underprivileged in society. The entire credit for this landmark initiative belongs to PM Narendra Modi and his vision for the betterment of the impoverished," Rai asserted.

These comments come amid a rising tide of political discourse, as both the NDA and the Opposition vie to claim credit for the caste census initiative, a critical issue leading up to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
