Chandigarh, Dec 8 (NationPress) Shortly after Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring declared her suspension from the party’s primary membership, Navjot Kaur Sidhu criticized him as "insensitive, irresponsible, morally dishonest, and corrupt" on Monday.

Kaur expressed on X, "I cannot support an insensitive and irresponsible leader who is morally dishonest and corrupt. I stand in solidarity with those who have suffered due to his incompetence and careless actions. I cannot recognize him as President. I question why the Chief Minister continues to protect him."

The spouse of Congress figure Navjot Singh, Kaur was suspended for her comment claiming that "it costs Rs 500 crore to become the Chief Minister of Punjab".

This statement from Kaur, made while asserting that her husband would only re-enter politics if the Congress party named him as their Chief Ministerial candidate, has sparked considerable political fallout.

After a meeting with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday, Kaur remarked that they “only advocate for Punjab,” but do not possess the amount of money she claims dictates high-level political roles.

"We do not have Rs 500 crore to secure a position in the Chief Minister’s office," she stated, adding that while no one has requested money from them, "those who provide a suitcase of Rs 500 crore ascend to the Chief Minister position."

Commenting on Kaur's remarks, Congress leader Sukhjinder Randhawa noted, "When she transitioned from the BJP to Congress, she received a promotion to minister. She previously mentioned how much was paid to become the number two minister, just behind the Chief Minister. Subsequently, she became PCC President, and again, spoke about financial contributions."

In response, state Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema launched a fierce critique against both the Congress and BJP leadership, demanding immediate answers to serious allegations of corruption made by Navjot Kaur and Sunil Jakhar, respectively.

Cheema challenged both parties, stating: "I urge the higher-ups of Congress and BJP: Why is there silence? Are you hushed because of your involvement in this corruption? I dare both high commands to respond within 24 hours."

He questioned the silence of both parties concerning leaders who have switched sides but whose past actions reveal systematic corruption.

He recalled that the current Punjab BJP President, formerly the Punjab Congress President, served during the tenure of two Chief Ministers – Amarinder Singh (who allegedly became CM for Rs 500 crore, per Kaur) and Charanjit Singh Channi (who allegedly ascended to CM after a Rs 350 crore deal, according to Sunil Jakhar).

He further questioned why Jakhar remained silent during his time with Congress, witnessing the commodification of ministerial posts and assembly seats, only to voice concerns post his transition to BJP.

Additionally, he referenced a relative of Channi from whom nearly Rs 10 crore was seized, which is currently under judicial consideration.
