Jaipur, March 11 (NationPress) The fifth session of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly concluded sine die on Tuesday at 6:06 p.m., as announced by Speaker Vasudev Devnani the following morning. Upon reviewing the session, Devnani highlighted that the Assembly conducted 24 sittings, engaging in discussions and legislative activities for roughly 184 hours.
The Speaker noted that extensive debates took place regarding the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s Address.
BJP members contributed to the debate for 13 hours and 14 minutes, whereas the Congress party spoke for 10 hours and 52 minutes. Legislators from other parties added 1 hour and 37 minutes to the discussions.
When discussing the Budget Estimates for 2026-27, BJP members spoke for 9 hours and 42 minutes, while Congress members contributed 8 hours and 19 minutes, and other parties spent 1 hour and 21 minutes on the topic.
Regarding the Demands for Grants, BJP legislators participated for 36 hours and 56 minutes, Congress members for 21 hours and 26 minutes, and other parties for 4 hours and 25 minutes.
Devnani reported that the Assembly received 8,919 questions during this session, which included 4,311 starred questions, 4,603 unstarred questions, and five short-notice questions.
Out of the starred questions, 440 were listed, and 232 were answered orally in the House. A total of 451 unstarred questions were also listed for discussion.
He pointed out that in the past four sessions of the 16th Assembly, the state government responded to 22,074 out of 22,735 questions, achieving a remarkable response rate of about 97 percent, which he characterized as an Assembly record. Under Rule 50, notices for 371 adjournment motions were submitted, with 84 admitted for discussion, and 77 members shared their insights.
Under Rule 295, 339 notices for special mentions were received, with 309 either read out in the House or deemed to have been read. The Assembly also received 850 calling-attention notices, with 33 listed on the House agenda. During the session, 10 bills were introduced and passed. The House saw 171 amendment proposals, where 17 were ruled inadmissible and 154 accepted.
The Assembly engaged in a four-day general discussion on the 2026–27 Budget, with 84 MLAs participating. Of the 64 demands for grants, 16 were discussed over eight days. A total of 3,935 cut motions were submitted, with 3,599 presented in the House.
Devnani mentioned that 226 petitions were submitted, with 52 presented in the House. Additionally, 37 reports from various committees were tabled during this session.
Upon the session's conclusion, Devnani expressed his gratitude to all legislators for their collaboration in maintaining the smooth operation of the House. He also recognized the contributions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Government Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg, and Opposition Chief Whip Rafiq Khan.
