Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma meets 6 Union Ministers in Delhi, pushes key projects
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a packed round of ministerial meetings in New Delhi on 7 July, engaging six Union Ministers across portfolios spanning agriculture, rural development, food security, renewable energy, urban infrastructure, water resources, road transport, and finance. The visits were aimed at accelerating major development projects in Rajasthan and tightening Centre-State coordination on flagship schemes.
Agriculture and Rural Development
In his meeting with Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Sharma reviewed the on-ground implementation of rural employment and livelihood programmes. Chouhan praised Rajasthan's Gram Vikas Chaupals initiative, saying it reflects a genuine commitment to engaging directly with villagers. He noted that under the Chief Minister's leadership, the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) — known as VB-G RAM G — has been systematically rolled out across the state, with work reportedly provided to labourers from day one.
Food Security and Clean Energy
Sharma's discussions with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi covered the strengthening of the public distribution system, expansion of grain storage capacity, and development of modern warehouses. Joshi lauded Rajasthan's performance in wheat procurement at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), attributing it to effective Centre-State coordination. The two leaders also reviewed the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the PM-KUSUM scheme, and plans to develop Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to advance clean energy in the state.
Power, Urban Development and Metro Expansion
In a separate meeting with Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, Sharma discussed strengthening Rajasthan's power sector, housing and urban development projects, expansion of metro connectivity, and the planned rollout of e-bus services across the state.
Water Resources and Highway Projects
Chief Minister Sharma met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Yamuna Water Project, and the Ram Jal Setu Link Project, along with future strategies to strengthen Rajasthan's water infrastructure. On Monday night, Sharma had also met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to assess the status of National Highway and Expressway projects currently underway in Rajasthan.
Finance and Centre-State Coordination
Rounding out the series, Sharma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss Rajasthan's development priorities and matters related to Centre-State financial coordination. The breadth of the meetings signals a concerted push by the state government to fast-track pending projects across multiple sectors ahead of the next budgetary cycle.
