Key Takeaways
Jaipur, December 24 (NationPress) The Bhajanlal administration has unveiled the Rajasthan Film Tourism Promotion Policy–2025, a pivotal initiative aimed at elevating the state as a sought-after locale for both national and international film projects.
During the announcement, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that Rajasthan boasts a remarkable cultural heritage, stunning desert vistas, historical forts, palaces, and varied natural settings that are unparalleled globally. This new policy is designed to establish the state as a prominent film production center, while also generating employment opportunities and fostering skill development among the youth.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari highlighted that the policy not only aims to provide financial incentives to filmmakers but also seeks to streamline administrative processes, enhancing the ease of doing business and ensuring effective implementation.
Filmmakers can qualify for subsidies up to 30% of their filming expenses when shooting feature films, web series, TV shows, and documentaries in Rajasthan.
The maximum subsidy limits are set at Rs 3 crore for feature films, Rs 2 crore for web series, Rs 1.5 crore for TV serials, and Rs 2 crore for documentaries.
To be eligible for these incentives, a minimum expenditure of Rs 2 crore for feature films and Rs 1 crore for web series, TV serials, and Rajasthani films shot in the state is necessary.
The subsidies are contingent on the amount of Rajasthan locations featured on screen, rewarding productions that showcase the state more prominently.
Films that complete at least 50% of their shooting days in Rajasthan can receive subsidies of up to 30%, with an additional 5% incentive for projects filmed entirely in the state.
The policy also guarantees full reimbursement of permission fees for up to five days for filming at locations managed by the State and Central governments.
Special incentives are available for award-winning films, with feature films shot in Rajasthan eligible for up to Rs 1 crore for international accolades and Rs 50 lakh for National Film Awards.
To nurture talent, scholarships will be awarded to Rajasthani students attending prestigious institutions like the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, and the National School of Drama, New Delhi. Annually, 10 students will be chosen for full tuition support up to Rs 50,000 and a monthly stipend of up to Rs 5,000.
The Tourism Department will compile a comprehensive directory of filming locations statewide and create a dedicated online portal that lists producers, directors, actors, technicians, musicians, choreographers, and line producers, making it a convenient platform for filmmakers.
Projects benefiting from subsidies must adhere to minimum theatrical release criteria, including showing on 200 screens for Hindi films, 25 screens for Rajasthani films, and 100 screens for films in other languages, along with mandatory credit to the Rajasthan State Government and the Tourism Department.
