Rajasthan Government Declares Winter Break for Schools from December 25 to January 5

Jaipur, Dec 23 (NationPress) All government and private schools in Rajasthan will be closed for winter vacation from December 25 to January 5, as confirmed by officials.
The announcement was made by Education Minister Madan Dilawar via a social media post, highlighting the importance of ensuring the health and safety of students during the severe winter season.
“According to the alert issued by the Meteorological Department of Rajasthan, there is a likelihood of a substantial rise in the intensity of the cold wave in the state starting from December 24. Considering this scenario, the Education Department of the state government has decided, in line with the Academic Almanac, that this year’s winter vacation will span from December 25 to January 5,” the Minister posted on X.
Based on the Shivira Panchang, the winter break typically commences on Christmas Day (December 25) and concludes on January 5.
School Director Sitaram Jat mentioned that the Shivira Panchang details the holiday schedule for the entire year, and accordingly, the winter vacation is set for December 25 to January 5.
This directive applies to all government and private schools throughout the state.
While the District Collector has the authority to extend the holiday period in cases of severe cold, no such circumstances exist at this time, Jat elaborated.
The state government has issued an official memorandum regarding the holiday period, which will be adhered to by both the Rajasthan Board and CBSE Board schools.
In recent years, there have been instances of holiday extensions beyond January 5, especially for students from nursery to class 8.
Last year, the holidays in Jaipur were prolonged from January 6 to January 13, making the winter vacation last from December 25 to January 13.
The Education Department empowers the District Collectors to declare holidays in schools post January 5 so they can make decisions in their respective areas based on winter conditions.
In the previous session, District Collectors had taken the initiative to declare holidays across most districts.
