Jaipur, Dec 19 (NationPress) A rainy Christmas and New Year is on the horizon for travelers in Rajasthan, as the India Meteorological Department announced on Thursday that several areas of the state will experience rain during the final week of December.

Light to moderate showers accompanied by thunder are anticipated in certain regions, attributed to the effect of an active western disturbance, officials noted.

According to the IMD, "On December 25, rain with thunder is expected in southeastern Rajasthan, while between December 26 and 27, similar weather is forecast for the Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner divisions."

Furthermore, meteorologists predict a decline in minimum temperatures over the next two days and have issued a warning regarding a cold wave that is likely to affect the state in the coming days.

Officials stated, "A slight decrease in minimum temperatures is anticipated in the next 48 hours, and the current cold wave in certain areas is expected to last for the next 3-4 days."

The highest maximum temperature recorded in the state on Thursday was 28.6°C in Pali, while the lowest minimum temperature on Friday dropped to 2.2°C in Fatehpur.

Overall, the weather in the state remained predominantly dry, with cold wave conditions noted in various regions. Numerous districts logged minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.

Minimum temperatures in selected towns include 8.6 degrees Celsius in Ajmer, 7.2 degrees Celsius in Vanasthali, 5 degrees Celsius in Alwar, 9 degrees Celsius in Jaipur, 7.3 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 7.3 degrees Celsius in Sikar, 8 degrees Celsius in Kota, 7.7 degrees Celsius in Chittorgarh, and 5 degrees Celsius in Nagaur.
