Rajasthan Government Closes Schools for Classes 1 to 8 Due to Cold Wave

Jaipur, Jan 13 (NationPress) In response to a cold wave affecting the state, the Rajasthan government has instituted holidays for students in Class I to 8 across 25 districts, including Jaipur.

Schools were closed on Monday in areas such as Jaipur, Sikar, Kota, Tonk, Dausa, Barmer, Balotra, Jhunjhunu, and Jaisalmer for these students. Furthermore, all educational institutions will remain closed on January 14 for the Makar Sankranti festival.

The official government directive has extended school holidays in Jaipur as well as in Nagaur, Deeg, Rajsamand, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Baran, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Ajmer, Kota, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Jhalawar, Tonk, Jalore, Sawai Madhopur, Dholpur, Sikar, Pali, Jaisalmer, Beawar, Kotputli-Bahror, Barmer, Balotra, and Khairthal-Tijara districts.

Rain and hailstorms are anticipated in Rajasthan on January 15, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert for 18 districts across Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions, predicting cloud cover, precipitation, and hail in certain areas.

Warnings for dense fog have been issued for 15 districts today. Due to the extreme cold weather, holidays for students from Class I to 8 have been extended from one to four days across various districts.

In Sawai Madhopur, students in these classes have been granted holidays from January 13 to 16. Likewise, in Rajsamand, Beawar, Pali, Jalore, Bharatpur, Deeg, and Khairthal-Tijara districts, holidays have been declared for January 13 and 14.

The District Collector of Ajmer issued an order late on January 12, announcing holidays for students up to Class 5 from January 13 to 14.

In Jodhpur, District Collector Gaurav Agarwal has adjusted school hours for January 13 and 14. Students will now need to report at 10 a.m. instead of the previous 8 a.m. start time, while staff hours have shifted from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

In Bikaner, Collector Namrata Vrishni has modified the operating hours of all government and private schools to function from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, no holidays have been declared in that district.

Previously, on January 6, the Director of Secondary Education allowed District Collectors to announce holidays and adjust school schedules due to the cold wave. Following this guideline, holidays have been proclaimed in multiple districts.
