Rajasthan: SI Exam Cancellation Recommended Following Scandal, Re-Exam Suggested

Jaipur, Dec 26 (NationPress) The Cabinet committee set up by the state government to tackle the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam issue has put forth a proposal to cancel the exam and arrange for a re-examination for the candidates who had initially participated. This recommendation was recently presented to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, although it has only now gained public attention. The report has also been passed on by the Home Department to Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena, who has been vocal about concerns regarding the recruitment process.

A six-member Cabinet committee, presided over by Parliamentary Affairs and Law Minister Jogaram Patel, was formed to investigate the leak of the SI recruitment exam paper. The committee weighed several options, including re-conducting the exam for the original candidates, entirely cancelling the recruitment, dismissing those selected candidates involved in the scandal, and retaining others in service. Ultimately, the committee favored the option of re-administering the exam for the candidates who had previously taken it.

The SI Recruitment 2021 process aimed to select 859 candidates, but the paper leak scandal has resulted in the arrest of around 50 Sub-Inspectors. In total, 75 individuals have been detained in connection with the case, although many have since been released on bail.

The situation has escalated to the High Court, where a petition has been lodged to seek the cancellation of the recruitment exam and a new chance for the original candidates. Following this petition, the High Court has imposed a stay on the appointment of trainee police Sub-Inspectors.

Chaired by Law Minister Jogaram Patel, the Cabinet committee included Ministers Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, Sumit Godara, Babulal Kharari, Jawahar Singh Bedham, and Manju Baghmar.

The committee consulted with the SIT investigating the SI recruitment exam, the Police Headquarters, and the Advocate General. All three entities advised cancelling the recruitment.
