Rajasthan High Court Prohibits Training and Posting of Trainee Sub-Inspectors; Next Hearing Scheduled for February 10

Jaipur, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Rajasthan High Court has placed a prohibition on any form of training or posting associated with the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination-2021 as of Thursday, with the next court session slated for February 10.
The case was discussed in the courtroom presided over by Justice Sameer Jain.
Following the announcement from the Rajasthan government that it would not cancel the Sub Inspector Recruitment Examination-2021, which was confirmed in its response to the Rajasthan High Court (Jaipur bench) on Thursday, the court instituted a ban on any training or postings related to this recruitment.
The government's representative, Additional Advocate General Vigyan Shah, informed the court that those implicated in the paper leak scandal have been arrested, and around 40 trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) discovered to have engaged in cheating during the examination have been suspended.
Shah further stated, "Currently, the recruitment cannot be canceled."
Nonetheless, the court challenged the government's hesitance to annul the recruitment amidst numerous corruption allegations.
Justice Jain appointed the Additional Solicitor General as amicus curiae to aid in the proceedings.
The High Court reaffirmed its prior order from November 18, 2024, which prohibited the posting of selected SIs, alongside barring any further training or field postings under this recruitment.
In the meantime, Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena deferred inquiries regarding the situation to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, stating, "As this matter is sub-judice, I cannot provide further comments."
However, Meena noted that the Chief Minister possesses the power to overturn the Cabinet sub-committee's decisions.
The petitioner's attorney, Harendra Neel, contended that public confidence has been undermined, necessitating decisive government action.
"The court has pressed the government on why it has not acted to cancel the recruitment. Such extensive corruption cannot be overlooked," Neel expressed.
The recruitment process for SIs became embroiled in controversy following a reported paper leak during the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021.
An investigation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) revealed the involvement of dummy candidates and various other fraudulent activities.
Currently, approximately 50 trainee SIs have been arrested, with 25 of them receiving bail from the High Court.
Despite the earlier ban from the High Court, the government had momentarily assigned some trainee SIs before revoking those postings after certain trainees were held in SOG custody for over 48 hours and subsequently suspended.
