Jaipur, Oct 27 (NationPress) - In a significant development in the fight against organized crime, the Rajasthan Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (ANTF) has successfully located and apprehended Jagdeep Singh, also known as Jagga, a prominent figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang currently linked with the Rohit Godara gang, in the United States, as reported by an official.
Jagdeep Singh, hailing from Dhurkot village in Moga district of Punjab, had been conducting criminal activities in India while residing overseas for several years.
Under the leadership of Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Gangster Task Force/ATS/ANTF) Dinesh M.N., the ANTF had been meticulously tracking the movements of this notorious criminal.
Jagga was reportedly engaged in extortion and gunfire incidents for the Bishnoi gang in both Punjab and Rajasthan. Approximately three years ago, he escaped to Dubai using his passport before unlawfully entering the US.
He has also evaded bail in numerous cases filed in Rajasthan, resulting in the issuance of warrants against him. With over a dozen criminal cases registered in Punjab, he has been declared a proclaimed offender by the courts. In Rajasthan, he faces charges in the Pratap Nagar and Sardarpura police stations of Jodhpur.
Jagdeep Singh was implicated in the March 2017 shooting and intimidation case against Dr. Sunil Chandak in Pratap Nagar.
In September 2017, he was incarcerated alongside Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi related to the murder of Vasudev Israni in Sardarpura. This operation was conducted under the oversight of former Deputy Inspector General of Police Yogesh Yadav and current DIG Deepak Bhargava.
The AGTF executed multiple raids at Jagga's hideouts across India while gathering intelligence on his international connections. With the assistance of global law enforcement, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended Jagga near the Canada-US border.
Jagdeep Singh is presently under the custody of US authorities.
According to an official, legal procedures for his extradition to India have commenced. Upon his return, the AGTF anticipates gaining vital insights regarding other affiliates and financial operations within the Bishnoi-Godara network.
Additional charges will be filed under pertinent sections, including Section 111 of the Indian Penal Code, with stringent measures to be enforced against those supporting organized crime.
The operation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhant Sharma along with officers Narottam Verma, Ravindra Pratap, Sunil Jangid, Manish Sharma, Kamal Puri, Head Constable Ramesh Kumar, and Constables Subhash Chand and Surendra Kumar.
