New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has made a shocking allegation against the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, claiming he served as an agent for a Swedish military firm during the 1970s. The lawmaker shared this assertion on social media, accompanied by a document to support his claim.
In a post on X, he stated, “The father of Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was an agent of a Swedish military company, suggesting he was involved in brokerage activities during the 70s?”
This severe accusation comes shortly after the Congress party leveled allegations against Dubey’s wife, suggesting the couple has accumulated wealth beyond their declared income.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate held a press conference on Thursday, referencing election affidavits to highlight the remarkable increase in Dubey’s wife’s assets, which soared from Rs 50 lakh in 2009 to Rs 31.32 crore by 2024.
She pointed out that the corruption allegations against Dubey are serious enough that he could potentially lose his seat in Parliament representing the Godda constituency.
“This is a clear case of disproportionate assets. We are keen to see how impartially the Lokpal acts in this matter,” she expressed during the media briefing.
Shrinate has called for accountability from both the BJP and Dubey, noting that a formal complaint was submitted to the Lokpal on May 24, 2025, with a request for Dubey to respond within four weeks.
“The figures simply don’t add up,” she added, urging the Lokpal to respond decisively and transparently.
This sparked a cryptic reply from the BJP MP, who wrote on his X account, “maaza aa raha hai” (having fun), further igniting the controversy.
The BJP has assured its cooperation with legal processes, while the Congress aims to leverage these revelations to challenge and embarrass the ruling party.
